These are the kinds of passes that made Dan Marino one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. I was once sitting in the stands when Dan threw a pass that was tipped off the fingers of Mark Duper, bounced off the helmet of linebacker, went into the 25th row and hit a hot dog vendor where the sun never shines then careened off Don Shula’s clipboard and landed in the end zone in the hands of Mark Clayton for a touchdown to defeat the New York Jets in overtime. You just don’t see stuff like this any more. Actually, since I started wearing glasses, I don’t see stuff like this any more.
