A Quick Guide to Presidents + Their Hats

A short cartoon-film I made for Stetson hats about the History of Presidents and Their Hats. Part of HatforObama.com.
From Andrew Jackson to Richard Nixon every American President except for Henry Harrison has worn a hat at their inauguration. It’s time to revive this historical tradition. Barack Obama, we implore you, don’t be a Henry Harrison – Bring Back the Hat!

My search really has to do with hats popularly associated with presidents WHILE they were in office. I’ve found 6–well, 4 actually. They are:
Abe Lincoln–his famous “stovepipe”, which he referred to as his
“office” (and which held legal documents) while he
was a lawyer in Illinois..
William Howard Taft–often seen wearing a straw “boater”..
(Woodrow Wilson–associated/photographed with a “top hat”..
(Calvin Coolidge–seen in a variety of toppers, including a
Sioux war-bonnet, at “photo/op” moments..
Franklin D. Roosevelt–who wore a crushed/beat-up “fedora”,
which belied his upper-class pedigree..
Harry S. Truman–ditto, but having anything but a pedigree.
I invite additions to, or comments on, this list. Thanks, phil
